Hi TL Friends,

You’re right! This doesn’t have anything to do with the Hydra Series.
I wanted to post something different today. Not to worry, I will return later with other photos from the beautiful Island of Hydra.

The Dandelion Clock, a very common flower found in many parts of the world. They are comprised of many seeds and with their downy parachutes, they can travel great distances on even the lightest of summer breezes.

I did some research and found something very interesting from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

This is an extract:
The name dandelion is a derivation of the Old French, dent-de-lion, literally "lion's tooth" on account of the sharply lobed leaves of the plant. In modern French the plant is called pissenlit, "urinate in bed", referring to its diuretic properties. Likewise, "pissabeds" is an English folkname for this plant, "piscialletto" in Italian and "meacamas" In Spanish (otherwise known as "diente de leon", lion's tooth).

For more info, this is the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dandelion

Enjoy!

Suffering from international pressures, trying to gauge the competitors Robert & John after having set high standards (in John’s case extremely high!) I don’t think I have much of a chance. So, I’ll let you be the judge. I just like to point out that I was competing for a fashion magazine for the front cover! (**cough**cough**)

Now, for what you all have been waiting for (especially the girls!) ….. You can find it here!

Hi Constantinos,
Great shot. Thanks for sharing.

As kids we use to blow the little parachutes of this (remaining of the) flower and do a wish.
We use to call them ''Horse flower''in dutch:Paardenbloem . Goos shot and excellent framing. Compliment Con!

Hi Constantinos,
I'm not sure which photo I should critique, But I'll let the woman talk about your greek god body.
The dandelion photo is very nice with excellent lighting, razor sharp sharpness and focus, with the perfect DOF. Very well done.
Luc

Hi Constantinos,

Excellent image, try as I may I just cannot get the definition you have here. Well placed in the field of green. As for the 'other' photo... not a very good tan for an Aussie born Greek :). TFS both!
Dave

First - well done Costas!! Not quite the speedos I'd hoped for, but you definitely show a bit of class and style!! The tan is lacking though but well done!!
And the Dandelion - you've done well there, I find these heads the most frustrating to capture, but youm look like you had no trouble at all. Good job!
Janice

Ha yes i agree with that!
It a good subject to practice précision. I try some shot me too! Very sharp here and with good light! The exercise is well done :)

Dandelion, yes it keeps us all busy. 11 day ago I did one. Werewolf is right it is a good subject to practice precision. The white head can be difficult and the sharpness of the seed.
You past all obstacles. Good DOF. Have the feeling that you can play with the position inside the area and make it less central.
Have nice weekend

Hi Constantinos..
excellent close-up shot..clearity, colors and details are great!..
TFS..
greetings and have a nice weekend..
Deniz

Hello Constantinos,
Fact is this is not an easy subject! At least I always get into trouble when I try... jejeje!
This is nicely done... DOF spot on, good details and natural colours!
Composition slightly off-set wotks fine...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Awsome macro Constantine! The focus is excellent and we can see every little detail. The perfect DOF makes the flower stand out like a 3D image!
Well done!

The three of you are great fun and you should all easily make the front page. Both shots are great. I like the colour contrast here and the clarity and detail.

Sometimes an image can be ignored but when it’s so well framed it brings out the beauty within and this one speaks for itself.
Great shot as usual Constantinos
Cheers

The dandelion stands out - sharp, clear detailed - against a blurred background. I admire photographers who play with the DOF. :)

Joseph

Hello Constantinos,
This is a lovely photo, soft textures, crisp image, colors and dof. You've made a common weed into a thing of beauty, tfs,

Excellent capture of a classic subject, Κώστα. I see you use all of your camera's regularly... I tend to stick to my 350D lately, somehow the 'simpler' Oly lost its attraction ;o).
As for the link, I think that one is worth a separate posting...
TFS; regards from hot, sunny Belgium ;o))

Hi Constantinos
Good work.Nice macro. good details and sharpness.
Good work my friend.
Have a nice days

Kerem

Hello Constantinos, I love dandelions, they make such great photos with their white seeds.

You did a great close-up, and it is very sharp. Great work my friend!

Yan :)
p.s. Thx very much for your visit in my Old City Hall photo :)

yes in Flemish, we call them 'pisseblommen' (blommen=flowers), looks very fluffy and soft, I took a shot of a similar flower in Crete, I'll upload it some day, only the diameter was at least 10/15 cm...and 'golden' seeds, thanx for the beauty, Constantinos, Magda, (*_*)

I saw your flower, then I saw the workshops, so now I'm not sure which one I like the best. Just kidding.
Very good sharp image of your dandelion. Perhaps less space on the right to make it complete central.

Hi Constantinos,
Great Dried Dandelion close-up my friend.
I like your pov,softness,colors,dof,blurred bg,note and framing.Well Done.TFS
Chris

the flower looks like its floating in the frame :)
beautiful colors and sharpness Constantinos
good "flower shot" :P the DOF is perfect

Very nice image well captured, one gust of wind and it would be a non photo. ;)

Lovely and Spikey!

Merci pour la vue!

When I was a little girl, my mum always told me " if you want to send a kiss or message to someone just blow the dandelion".
Good macro shot with good details & frame. Well done.
Mitra

This is a perfection. It is as close to the real thing as you can get with photography. Excellent work!

Hello!

There are still so many photos of yours Con that I have not seen, so I am flipping back and looking! The detail in this is amazing, considering these things float and move with the wind so easily! Spring is a windy time! You caught this just perfect!
Nice shot!
