[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
Hi TL Friends,

World War I was originally called The Great War because no one imagined that all the nations would fight at once that is, except Nostradamus (1503 - 1566).

Century I, Quatrain 63
The scourges passed the world shrinks,
For a long time peace and populated lands:
One will travel safely by air, land, sea and wave,
Then the wars stirred up a new.

Century I, Quatrain 64
They will think they have seen the Sun at night
When they will see the pig half-man:
Noise, song, battle, fighting in the sky perceived,
And one will hear brute beasts talking.

CI Q63, Nostradamus set up the idea that travel by air would some day exist. He predicted warfare by air with amazing detail, CI Q64.

This modern technology of fighting by air didn't come into widespread practice until World War I when fragile biplanes exchanged fire and dropped bombs.

Sun at night This piece refers to a bright light, which would cut through the darkness, surely, if it was as bright as the sun. During World War I, both the searchlights and explosions at night produced bright lights.

Pig half-man Here, he was attempting to describe how a man would look with what appeared to be a strange pushed up nose and the slick skull of a pig on a man's body. This was an accurate prediction (for a man who had no knowledge of why men might look this way) of the breathing masks and slick, leather headgear worn by fighter pilots during World War I.

Noise, song, battle If you've ever wondered whether Nostradamus just saw things in his visions or if he heard things, too, then this little piece should settle that question. The fights between planes created a great deal of noise and drama in the sky, and the noise of the bombs was deafening. Across the space of around 350 years, these loud prolonged explosions may've sounded strange to Nostradamus, or maybe he interpreted these noises (so different from the sporadic cannon fire of his own time) as the song of battle.

Brute beasts talking Nostradamus tried so hard to describe what he didn't understand. Here, his vision revealed beasts — probably the same pig-men from earlier in the quatrain except that now they're talking. He couldn't have known that during World War I the men would use radios and a controller to communicate with each other. It's interesting that Nostradamus shifted from pig-men to brute beasts. This choice of words suggests that he felt that those in the midst of the battle would no longer be men but would become something almost entirely without thought — beasts.

CI Q63 & 64 are important because they give you an idea of how Nostradamus viewed the world. He lacked insight to be able to call the battle in the sky, aerial, and he didn't know why the men would look like pigs, but he certainly got the idea across to make a very accurate prediction about how the next battles would be fought, starting with World War I.

Enjoy!

Excellent work, Constantinos !!!

thanks and stay well,

Κωνσταντίνε, μάρεσει πολυ αυτή η λήψη της κάσκας και το γύρο γύρο κάπως θολό.

Great shot and story Constantinos! If you REALLY want to be scared, read Ezekiel in the Bible. The descriptions of what they perceive is amazing. Wheels, lights, whirling sounds of thunder! Very interesting. also Daniel has alot of referrences to this.
Great shot!
Linda

Hello Cons, you captured the pilot's hat very well, it looks so futuristic. Very sharp, perfect light, nice colours and good shallow dof.

Very good subject to go with your note.

Take care, Yan :)

I have always found Nostradamus interesting. Haven't read it but saw the movie. Fascinating note. Very clear and great capture of the mask. Must say it make sense that he saw it as pig half-man.

Both image and note are impressive! The capture of the helmet from the lower level gives it a very dominant position and the reflections caught in the visor are great.
TFS,
Vassilis

Hi Costas, even reading Revelation in the Bible gives you such strange look into modern technology of fighting, etc from the eyes of one seeing it 2 thousand years ago too, and written on Patmos). Just look at how the world has changed in the last 100 years. And what will it be like in another 100 years? Scary!!
What a wonderful piece of pilot head-wear you show us. Good composition, the low POV reflecting us a good coverage of the sky for us. Well done.
I'm off to Melbourne this week, so I will say Hello to your home town from you. . .

Hello Con,

I did wonder for a while if I was looking at a fancy vacuum cleaner. Excellent POV and PP work that makes the image match the notes. Well done, well taken and well written. TFS,
Dave

Perhaps a tighter crop from above, to avoid the coloured spots in the left upper corner ? Excellent shot to accompany the text, Κώστα. I guess Nostradamus didn't know elephants either, as the air tube resembles a trump ;o).
Still, a very cool headgear, don't you think ? Top Gun in Greece ;o).

Hi Constantinos

Interesting, although it's open to many different interpretations: eg Nostradamus also quotes "when the 2 brothers fall" in the 21st century, & some people associate this with 9/11.

Constantinos
I predict together with Nostradamus an high score
The photo is good in composition. Good lines that bring us or hold us close to the out centre helmet
REMBER THE SORY OF THE YOUNG COUPLE THAT PAST Nostradamus
He said good bye to them when the went into the woods. After returning his greeting changed in hello young mother.

Hi Con,
Interesting photo and note. Personally, I don't believe a word about Nostradamus and his predictions. There were a lot of nonsense about him written, immediately after 9/11.
Cheers.

Hi Constantinos,
A very creative combination of Nostradamus wordings with this photo. Together they present a great package. Please don't tell us when the world ends ! TFS,

Hi Constantinos,

Beautiful work, different
composition, but I liked to read
on the prophecy. Thank you very much
for sharing that.
Congratulations, great job!

Sérgio

Nice analogy and presentation.

Prediction of the third world War was for 2000. I am very happy he was wrong. Nevertheless, I do not like much what we see these days... But he could have just made a mistake in the exact year :(

Peace and harmony is possible. As every population from around the globe wish to live in a peaceful world.

I do believe humanity will still be wise enough to avoid repeating the same mistakes of the past. Some politicians and powerful people are unfortunately outrageously making profits out of these trouble times without any concern about their own people. It is the sad reality. All this with the help of powerful tools such as the medias.

Sad era!

Fortunately such site as TL, is a proof that we may communicate peacefully with friends from all over the world.

Yes I believe in a better world.

Cheers!
Robert

Yasou Constantinos.
Tiganis?
South Africa = poly-kreo.

Pardon the spelling - I might be able to say a few words in Greek, but writing it is another story...

Nostradamus learnt from my wife. No, she's not old, it's just that she can predict the future very accurately.

I like the image a lot. Technically this image is of a high standard - balanced, great DOF, crispfocus on the helmet, everything just great. However, the impact caused by the helmet is tremendous! Very enticing image envoking a sense of fear, shock, disbelieve and amazement. I love it. The helmet is looking at me, but there is no head in it - a detached helmet that is 'alive'... scary! Very well done. TFS.

COnstantinos,
I was drawn in beacuse of the apparent lack of connection between the photo and the title, and became engrossed in your note. Very interesting!
You have managed the bright light of the day very well and nice reflection captured in the visor.

Hallo Constantinos,
I like the subject and the reflaction!!! But above all Your note!!
