Hehe ... actually I find the faraway blankness of his expression is very endearing. It tells a story - you with your camera, him with his thoughts and entirely not bothered by your clicks.
Nice OE of background to draw the viewer in to your subject. The slight lens distortion adds to the intimacy.

I like this photo very much. I have not taken many photos of people drinking their coffee or cocoa, but I like the result. It leaves a little mystery to the rest of his face...;) I also like his faraway look in his eyes. He is lost in his thought the same as you are lost in your photography. Nice background showing elements of the cafe. I feel like I'm sitting at the table with you.

Hi Anna,
I agree with Rew regarding the OE background, it is very effective! Black and white portraits usually have dark, dim BG's but this feels fresh and different. Excellent low f-stop for this depth of field to make this moment intimate. Nice expression in the eyes and good composition with the subject off centre. The light and shadow in the BG is very interesting also. Thanks for sharing.

I can sense from this image and your Note that emotion plays a huge factor in your photography. That is wonderful, and I wish I can do that more often. Hi Ana,

Your Rob must be a patient man, when you are holding that camera in his face, but I can imagine why he would be your favourite model.
Can you make a light correction down on your camera? The light on Rob is almost perfect, but outside light can also be too much, and just a bit less would also make the BG less overexposed. I made a WS, with a really dark BG.
