[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
The first thing you need to know about this image is that THERE IS NOTHING HOLDING THESE STONES TOGETHER EXCEPT GRAVITY.

At the Festival de la Cite in Lausanne earlier this month, a man stood in a small courtyard outside of the Cathedral and spent hour upon hour carefully building these columns of stones by doing nothing but placing them on top of each other and painstakingly balancing them until they stayed in place. I have never seen anything like it.

A large crowed had gathered around to watch the incredibly slow-paced evolution of these columns. A Swiss friend of mine asked several spectators to clear a space for me so that I could snap one shot of the columns. Here it is ...

Hi Sandy,

Very interesting image provided.
Color B & W gives a special beauty of this picture.
My congratulations,
Have a pleasant day,
Adrian

An amazing achievement - I've never seen anything like it and in terms of pure subject this is an outstanding shot.

I do wonder if composition could be stronger, perhaps if you chose to focus on a single column, placing it in a strong part of the frame and maybe using vertical framing rather than horizontal? And perhaps also a lower POV so we had a more intimate view of the columns?

Amazing subject though - wow.

dear Sandy,
a beautiful shot of touching and surprising view.
this feeling is almost surrealistic indeed.
your B&W expression matches it so well.
this strangeness maybe not this earth but another planet...
thank you for your excellent shot,
Akihisa
