Interlaken in autumn dress

Tried to do some Heavily Post Processed work on this picture. Seen many nice HDR pictures on TL last weeks, so give it a try too, although this isn't HDR.

The view on the nice Swiss town Interlaken in autumn dress is an experiment and I'm curious about your comments. Is is crap or not, what to improve, how to improve, all these questions I hope to get answered with the help of you TL members.

What did I do with the original picture? Well first removed some dust spots and rotated 2 degrees CW. Than the main part: increased brightness (10%)and contrast (15%), adjusted highlights (40%) and shadows (5%), readjusted contrast (+10%) and desaturated to get more natural colours (-10%). Resized and sharpened and finally add frame.

You can find the original picture in the WS here

Hi Hans,
If it was your intention to have the foreground dark with your PP work then you did good, but if not, then I do find it to dark & hiding a lot of details.Did a WS to show what I mean, just used shadows & highlight tool & desatureated some of the yellow tinge from a couple of clouds.Let me know what you think please.
Regards
Ron

Hi Hans,
Nice attempt, and a good subject to photograph. I agree with Ron about the dark FG, his workshop makes quite the difference. There is some haloing around the steeple and trees, although I can sympathize as it is very easy to do.

I've also done a quick workshop, by converting it to HDR and removing some of the haloing. Hoping to see more experiments from you in the near future :).

TFS,
Scott.

Hi Hans
Firstly don't bother with HDR its pure and utter unnatural IMHO, a form of some process which may only work with nocturnal shots and I have yet to see one decent capture of that also. I prefer your first version which would have been made better with just attention to shadow and highlight detail in photoshop or adjustments with the RAW file. The haloing puts me off straight away, and although you say this isn't a HDR, it seems to have come about that way or too much highlight adjustments.
Stay the natural way, as the rest of your galley shows.
Regards

Very nice Hans! Looks like HDR! It's good, very "artistic" and that is what HDR does, it adds drama to an otherwise ordinary shot. I like your comp here, really nice pp work. Yes, there is a halo and that is part of it! Nice work...try HDR!
