As an experiment I don't think this picture works very well - the lighting is too harsh on the left of the frame and too dark on the right, with the eyeball lacking sharp detail or colour and ultimately looking quite flat. The frame accentuates the problems with the lighting and colour saturation and is really far too strong for such a picture, ultimately overpowering everything.
