Intense Heat
 |
|
| [Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista |
I took this image in Sonora desert on slide film. Since it was really hot, I wanted to transpose that heat onto film by using a red filter (No.25) normally use to get contrast in B&W photography. The red color is not a PP effect.
Image was shot with a super wide angle to get an exagerated perspective. This way the front cactus gains importance in the FG and the sun is reduced in size.
When shooting wide angle lens with small aperture, any small light source will have a tendency to create light rays. This the result of lens diffraction. Here again it is not a PP effect, the sun and the light rays really belong to the original slide.
Special effects and trick photography don't belong only to digital world, ancestor (including me) could create nice effect on film years ago. ;o)
Slide film have been digitalized on my Epson 4180 flat bed scanner and no PP was done for the color effect and light rays. I just used level and curve options to ensure a moody contrast. Plus I did the framing with repetitives canvas size option.
Camera: Nikon F3
Lens: Nikkor 20mm f/3.5 AI
Film: Ektachrome
Filter: Red No.25
Scanner: Epson 4180 flat bed scanner |

Hi Alain
You did a great job of transmitting the heat with the coloring and the added sun with the pp.
I'm thinking red hot picante chili peppers with perspiration rolling down the face.
Will need a cerveza to cool down.
Well done.

Bonjour Alain,

Amicalement
Pascal-Eric
