Your Grass Is Greener
 |
|
| [Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista |
Subject:
Neighbour's lawn.
Photoshop (Very small adjustment):
1. Curve
2. Unsharp Mask
3. Crop & Frame
Concept:
"Grass is greener on the other side of the fence."
Just like the proverb, most of us at times, feel that other people have or their situations always look better than our own. In reality, that's usually not true. As a person, we all felt uncontent when life was tough. As a photographer, I sometimes feel inadequate and envious of other photographers' artistic and prolific creation.
Visualization:
I followed the same Patterson's technique described in my previous "Hydrated Iron Oxide" post.
Execution:
Armed with the concept, I sat on the pavement in front of our neighbour's lawn. I closed my eyes and started to relax and then I opened my eyes and slowly let the lawn go out of focus. I then relaxed my eyes again briefly and refocused a different a part of the lawn. I rested my eyes and became aware of the colors in the out-of-focus shape. I refocused my eyes repeatedly to observe different parts of the lawn. I asked myself about my feelings toward the lawn. Which parts I like and dislike? Which parts I feel sorry for? After awhile, I picked up my camera and started shooting.
Here is the result. The metaphore is my neighbour's grass looks greener because I only have the narrow view into their lawn (and their lives perhaps). I was too obsessed with their lawn and overlooking beautiful flowers right in front of me. A little voice in my head says, "Hey, try to improve your own lawn instead of yearning for others' ". |

Andrea :)
Hi Nap,
I like the color tone of this picture, the perfect combination of green, yellow, and white. ^^
