Repost Note:
I have come to the conclusion that the best way to approach this photo is to crop and frame it to eliminate unattractive black sky, turning a lemon into lemonade.

Background:
1. Mt. Wilson hosted many TV/radio transmitters on the summit. This photo is taken from the transmitter site.
2. There is no 360' degree view of Los Angeles from Mt. Wilson. We are looking South. On the right (west) is San Fernando valley (obstructed by mountains). On the left (East) is San Gabriel valley. (obstructed by trees, trasmitter towers and maintenance buildings. We have more mountians behind us (North).
2. This is the highest point and views on both sides are obstructed. I believe this is the best seat in the house.

---------------------
Original Note:

This is a view of Los Angeles from Mount Wilson. It was one of clearer nights with some marine layers. Thanks to warm air (86' F) on a breezy winter day that created such a clear night.

On the left, you can see Palos Verdes Peninsula and on the right is Flint Peak. Marine layers were illuminated by city lights. Stars were clearly bright (though not really visible in the photo.) Short bright lines in the sky are airplanes (due to long exposure.)

Happy Valentine's to love birds out there.

Hi Nap,
I like lighting view, a little like the projection of a volcano's lava. Excellent cropping and sharpness. Very well done

Hi Nap

A superb night shot & overview of this sprawling city. I like the light trail of the departing aircraft. Good work!

Hi Nap,
Stunning view, and a good idea to repost this photo. Somehow the colors came out much better. The view is now more concentrated on the most important part. The light trails of the two airplanes are very cool.

Niek

Hello Nap,
Excellent point of view and a great capture!
Post processing very well done, resulting in an impressive presentation!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Nap, I looked at both photos, this one and the original and I agree with you, this one is better. The croping is very effective.

It is a very nice night shot and all the light make a nice map of the city line.

I like your framing very well too.

Great work! Yan :)

p.s.: Many thx for your review on "Beach Grass at Dusk". It's greatly appreciated.

wow,
Great view and the light are beautiful!
Great shot with a lot of details!
Take care Ana:)

Impressive shot Nap!

The immage is well presented. The frame fits well with it. BravO!
Robert

Everytime I fly into LAX, I am always amazed at the size of this city! You captured the essence very well here: it seems like the lights are going forever. Nice job!
