Hi Lori,
Clematis! One of my favorite. I love how large the blooms can get. This one looks like it may be atleast 6" across!
Very nice picture with sharp details. And the color! :)
I think maybe you can grow this without too much fuss. I gave it to a friend as a b-day gift once. It's been a couple of years and it's still in the pot it came in, and with the same 3 sticks the store had put in! The vines shrivel up in the winter, and look kind of ugly...but, in the spring and summer it's looking good again. Something to think about. ;)
Take care!

A very beautiful flower and a great shot of it. Very clear and well focused. The colours are just gorgeous. We just planted our second one today. For years we have had a mauve one growing up the trellis on the side of the house, and today we planted a pink one alongside so they can grow together and mix colours on the wall.
You certainly got it composed nicely. I am thinking though that the frame, because it is the same colour as the flower, competes too much with the petals and takes the eye away from the main subject. Maybe a very dark violet-black colour would have been better, or even white with the thin line in the middle of the white border in a purple colour. Good work.

Just beautiful Lori. Yes, it is a Clematis, but what name, I don't know. There are many varieties and colours. This one is stunning. And what a lot of flowers there are on the vine too. Well done.

Lori, a crystal clear shot of a very beautiful clematis. As for the borders, of the two I prefer the darker one. The lighter one seems to draw my eye out of the picture rather than containing it and leading it back in. Personally I prefer black or white borders as they define the edges most clearly but life would be boring if everyone was the same wouldn't it. In fact I rarely use borders at all, although I have today as it happens.

Very good focus, saturated colors and composition. Framing really sets it all off. You'll have to teach me how to do that someday.

What a great macro Lori. The focus is so sharp on the centre of the clematis. Glad you got out of the bus and took this shot. I like the darker frame better, as it makes the flower pop out more. If you want to grow these yourself, keep the top in the sun, and the roots in the shade. Grow something small around the bottom of it. Just a tip I learned, and my vine is doing lovely. I'll be back tomorrow morning Lori.
