Spring is in the Air

Our winter has been cold, wet and grey. But at long last something is stirring. Sleeping trees now feel the longer days and the warmer sun. Our winter is passing and spring is on the way. Hurrah!!

I drive past this tree nearly every day, and lately I’ve noticed it’s black branches slowly turning white as it’s blossoms start exploding into bloom.

And when I saw Helen’s theme for next Friday - 5 Minutes from Home - I thought of this tree and went out and timed the trip from home. But it is only 2 minutes to drive and definitely longer than 5 minutes to walk.

So I decided to take the photos and post them now!! I’m quite sure this is a Plum tree.

Check out the Workshop to see where the tree is growing on a strip of grass on quite a busy road. I imagine the plum disappear quickly once they ripen as I’m sure many passers-by must help themselves to them.

I hope you are all excited to hear that spring is in the air Down Under.

Hi Janice,

Hurray for you indeed - we just had a summer that was mostly wet and grey - wonder what our winter will bring.

This looks a bit like a Japanese painting.

Good to see the roadside has such a lovely tree.
Glad you will get to see sunnier days.

Hi Janice,
It's still weird; our seasons are oposite :-) Spring he! Yeah I love it, but I also like the autumn with it's beautiful coloirs. This is a great spring impression, the delicate blossom, well captured against the bright sky without OE. The blossom is clarly seen and the branches of the tree creates a nice composition!
Well done my dear.

Wonderful capture.Beautiful composition, lovely colours and fine details.
Friendly greetings

I love the PoV and composition here - lovely to see freshness return to the world again.
My one suggestions for improvement would be to brighten the flowers just a little more to keep them strong against the bright spring sky. (our eyes adjust, but the camera won't :)

Hi Janice,
I am happy for you! Spring time is always a delightful moment in the year!
Excellent close-up on this flowered branch!
A hopeful image! Bravo! Annie

Hi Janice, the blossoms here started coming in mid August in particular the ornamental cherries, plums and various wattles. A lovely image forecasting the arrival of spring with good colour and detail.

Dave

Getting there but very slowly. I think I am over the hump and then have a severe backward slide.

Hi Janice,
In my opinion Its a plum tree, Their blossoms are harbingers of wonderful spring.
Have nice spring days

Hi Janice

It is certainly uplifting to see the plum & cherry blossum, after months of mind numbing cold (at least in Korea, where it was -17c every morning for weeks). The blue & pink colours go well together. Tfs1
