This is what you gonna see if you climb 422 staircases of a cathedral. We almost fainted to reach at this floor level of the Notre Dame Church' western tower by footsteps. But with this breathtaking view of the entire city, it's really worth the climb!

PP: Cropped to have this panoramic effect, then resized for TL.

About Gargoyle:

In architecture, gargoyles are the carved terminations to spouts which convey water away from the sides of buildings. The term originates from the French gargouille, originally the throat or gullet, cf. Latin gurgulio, gula, and similar words derived from root gar, to swallow, the word representing the gurgling sound of water; Ital. doccione; Ger. Ausguss, Wasserspeier.

Gargoyles are mostly eerie figures. Statues representing gargoyle-like creatures are popular sales items, particularly in goth and New Age retail stores.

A chimera, or a grotesque figure, is a similar type of sculpture that does not work as a waterspout and serves only an ornamental or artistic function. These are also popularly referred to as gargoyles.

Hi Ricky,
Nice picture taken from a good POV making the 'gargoyle' the center of attention without compromising the beautiful architectural view surrounding the Church of Notre Dame.

A great one indeed Ricky!
Wonderful view.

Cheers,
Anneke

Excellent lighting here and I love the panorama of the city in the background with the gargoyle in the foreground at the left. The balance of contrasts and between the foreground and background is wonderful. Good composition too with the Eiffel Tower at the right. TFS!

Hello Ricky,

Superb compo! Very original shoot!
Bravo!

Marc.

Great view. I remember this one from the Armaggedon film, same view at the Eiffel Tower, and the beasts on the sides, bursting out when the meteorite (or whatever it was) hit the ground.

Nice gentle clouds, the beast here looks nice on the foreground.
