Fade away in Hoorn...

Today I was guest of Anneke (Ejtaan) and her husband Rob who live in Zwaag, near Hoorn.
First at all I have to thank Anneke en Rob for their great hospitality. Making new friends via Treklens is a wonderful thing! Together we went into the beautiful little town of Hoorn, situated at the borders of the IJsselmeer. We walked for hours, Ejtaan and the Green Baron shooting one after the other picture while Rob apparently (how brave!) enjoyed the sight of two fanatical TL-photographers. Boy do I have respect for Rob, no camera, only patient to help Anneke as support or balance when needed (refer the WS). So now and than we stopped to have a nice beer at the terrace of eating a fresh baked fish at the market. I can assure you dear TL-members I have pictures for weeks! So many different interesting places I have visited today! A long day walking and taking pictures makes thirsty and hungry; arriving at Anneke and Robs home I was pleased with a nice cold beer and a delicious meal of home made Anneke’s chicken soup!
In short: again a great TL-day. Thanks Anneke en Rob for your terrific day you gave me, this is greatly appreciated. Making friends is more worthy than so many other things.

The picture: With a lot of back lighting shot this boat leaving the harbour of Hoorn; as if this ship is fading away in the bright lighting over the IJsselmeer.

An impression of Anneke of The Green Baron and his 'friends' you can find here!

PS-talk: decreased the brightness slightly and increased the contrast some dots. Framed and Add text.

Hoorn
Hoorn (West Frisian: Hoorn) is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It is located on the IJsselmeer, 40 kilometres north of Amsterdam and acquired city rights in 1357. Hoorn has 68,152 inhabitants (CBS: January 1st, 2007). The area of the municipality is 52,49km² (32,62km² consists out of water, mainly of the IJsselmeer).
Founded in 1357, Hoorn rapidly grew to become a major harbour town. During Holland's 'Golden Century', Hoorn was an important home base for the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and a very prosperous centre of trade. The Hoorn fleet plied the seven seas and returned laden with precious commodities. Exotic spices such as pepper, nutmeg, cloves and mace were sold at vast profits. With their skill in trade and seafaring, sons of Hoorn established the town's name far and wide. Jan Pieterszoon Coen (1587-1629) is famous for his violent raids in Dutch Indies (now Indonesia), were he "founded" the city of Batavia in 1619 (now Jakarta). He has a big statue on the Roode Steen square in the center of Hoorn. (Text Wikipedia.com)

Hans:
I like your captures, for one thing for sure that you take great pains to write things up which very helpful to some one like me who know so little...
Then an exceptional image style and in this one how you have framed the sails the tree and the light house type structure and how you have handled the brighness and yet being able to show water-fouls...all is superb!!!
David

Very nice work Hans. Well composed, good PP...

First, it's nice to see that you had a nice day with someone who is a host for you, Hans, after being a host for many people.

Nice picture here, with a very nice mood in it and that's for me one of the most important things in a picture.. Good pov and using the tree as a naturale "frame".

Prettig weekend en groetjes,

Don

Hello hans,
Attractive minimalism!
Contrasty duotone works well in conveying the atmosphere, well composed with fine details...
The image has a fine spring feeling!
Greetings,

Hi Hans,
Excellent composition with smooth colors establishing a peaceful mood. The tree in the foregroung give the idea that the boat is fading away. Great sharp details, we even see the bird flying near the boat. Very well done. TFS
Greetings
Pierre

Very nice to know you met with another TL member. I like this composition and how it is almost a silhouette. I like the white background.

He Hans,

Ik zie dat je nu het ruime sop kiest i.p.v. het universum. Mooi bewerkte foto. Het blijft boeiend om naar de kijken, het water en de bootjes.

Hi, hi,

I really liked that note, interesting and slightly funny... especially the workshop. :) I like this photo because it's so real, I mean people (including myself) are always avoiding obstructions (and although the tree isn't really an obstruction, since it adds interest) because they want the perfect shot, with just one specific focal point. And it's real because in the day to day life there is always a tree or a car in the way... so I thank you for this nice, natural post. The lack of colour is really interesting here and nice/big framing. :)

Biance.
