[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
Monmouth (is a town in southeast Wales and traditional county town of the historic county of Monmouthshire. It is situated where the River Monnow meets the River Wye with bridges over both.

Monmouth is twinned with Carbonne, France and Waldbronn, Germany

Archaeological excavations undertaken by the Monmouth Archaeological Society on sites along Monnow Street have uncovered a wealth of information about the early history of the town. Indeed, the Council for British Archaeology have designated Monmouth as one of the top ten towns in Britain for archaeology.
This doorway is part of one of the churches.

A lovely piece of architecture, the only distraction is the hand rail, but this is out of your control. The eye is led into the open door very nicely.

Hi David
Beautiful architecture and nice PoV with the image, any reason why the close crop on the bottom? Great shot and I agree with the last critique about the handrail and the eye being drawn in. TFS

Hi David,

I prefer the vision with the doorstep. An other version in WS, hope you like it.
Best regards
Jean

Hello David, I like how you have filled the frame with this door and the arch.
The decoration of the arch is very sharp so we can see all the details of the carving.
Any idea of the date? It looks quite old to me.
Good to see the little window inside the church, inviting us in for a closer look.
Interesting note.
Tfs, regards Jean.

P.S. Just noticed the workshops, I like the shot from further away, but I do like the detail of the main post.

Excellent!!! Perfect composition. I like the architectural details and the half open door through which we can see light coming through windows.
Thanks and regards,
abhijit.

Nice work showing this imposing structure! There certainly was no shortage of rock in those days - buildings with thick walls, better safe than sorry, would probably last as long as the pyramids......... I love the northern gothic style (I am just guessing: 12th or 13th C?) .....
Cheers
otto
