Taken in Arches National Park, in south eastern Utah, not far from Moab. Vehicles are charged $10 US admission fee, & it's well worth it. The central rock here looks something like Cartman out of South Park. This is real Wylie Coyote & Roadrunner country!

The Rocky Mountains in the background are snowcapped.

"In two hours, you can do one of these four routes:

•Hike the Windows loop trail and get an up-close view of the North and South Windows and Turret Arch. Then take the short trail between parking areas and hike up to Double Arch. Drive back to Balanced Rock and take the loop trail around its base. Contemplate its precarious position as you walk beneath it.
•Take the Delicate Arch Trail from Wolfe Ranch up the sloping slickrock to stand under the best known arch in the world. (During hot months, do this hike early or late in the day.)
•Hike between the tall sandstone fins in the Devils Garden to see Landscape Arch, perhaps the world’s longest. How long will this thin span resist the forces of gravity?
•Walk to Sand Dune Arch, across the grassy field and onward to Broken Arch. Continue around the loop, through the end of the campground, and return. Enjoy the vista toward the distant Book Cliffs, the beautiful Tapestry Arch and the sandstone fins."

Hi Chris,
Stunning landscape, perfectly captured and presented. Those red tones are very exceptional and create a special mood in my opinion. A fine well balanced composition too!
Hans

Hi Chris,

What a great explosion of the reddish color tones! The sharpness and POV are superb and the cloudy sky gives great contrast to these great natural tones of the landscape here. I like the cliff like structure standing tall against the vast sky.
A very well seen capture!

Thanks for posting.

kind regards,
Paras

I'm surprised at seeing such variety of rock formations in this Park. It's really a place for the joy of photographers!
Very good composition both for the right proportions of earth and sky and for the wonderful appealing colours and clarity which give a strong sense of reality and presence.

well done,
Donato

Hello, Chris -
Great shot of this powerful natural landscape. I like the warm earthy tones of the rocks and ground. Very sharp throughout with perfect lighting and exposure. Very nice image.

Dear Chris

Fantastic scene you've taken here, superb details and contrast with vivid colors
Nothing more to say, I'm enjoying...thank you
Alireza :)

Hi Chris,

Wonderful POV to show the grouping of rocks with the Rockies in the distance. The colors and crispness shown here are fantastic, I hope to get out there one of these days. Have a good evening, beep beep!

Best regards,
Werner

Hi Chris,

I've never been to Utah, but must get there one day. It looks like a photographer's paradise. You have really captured some interesting rock formations. Nice rich colors throughout the scene. I do think it would also look terrific in black and white with perhaps a boost of contrast. Just a thought as this reminds me of something Ansel Adams would shoot. :) Lisa

Hello Chris,

Nature's Art makes the most amazing spectacles!
I like how you have given us this extended f/g to set the nature of the terrain before we meet the gigantic sculptures; it also means that they have height and dominance against the b/g.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Amazing landscape !!!

thanks,

Hi Chris, This is truely a work of art produced by weathering effects. The colours are stunning and the shapes are unworldly. TFS. Murray.

Stunning place. I'm always awed by these old rock formations, testament to the age of this planet and the fact that its surface is ever changing.

Personally I would've aimed for more sky, maybe placing those rocks lower in the sky and attempting a 2:1 ratio of sky to land, but as I say - that's a personal preference.

Hard to get a sense of scale here, too, I suspect those rocks are much larger than they look in the photograph!
